Layered Paper Food Labels

Labels add a nice finishing touch to your holiday spread and are a great way to tie your buffet to your decorations. Besides letting guests know the name of the dish before them, labels can also declare whether or not the food contains allergens or any undesired ingredients. With words and/or icons on the labels, you can be considerate to the dietary concerns of your guests without having to answer the same questions again and again. Depending on your guest list and menu, you may wish to indicate if a dish is vegetarian, vegan, Kosher, gluten-free or if it contains nuts, halal meat, dairy, or shellfish.

Supplies & Tools:

Directions:

  1. Download the Word template (.doc). Open file and change text and font as desired.  Print on white cardstock. Each label measures 3.5" x 2".
  2. Place cardstock on cutting mat. Cut out labels using metal ruler and X-Acto. Set aside.
  3. For the middle layer, cut pieces that measure 3.625" x 2.125".
  4. For the back layer, cut pieces that measure 3.75" x 2.25".
  5. Arrange pieces in order from smallest to largest and use rubber cement to glue in place.
  6. After the rubber cement dries, they are ready to use.
