While wandering around Pittsburgh’s Strip District, I came across an abandoned factory on the Allegheny that I immediately fell in love with because I adore old, dilapidated buildings. This factory was especially amazing because quite a bit of the machinery was still inside. I could tell that people were living or had lived in there at some point because there were clothes, toothbrushes and other objects strewn about. During 1 of my visits, I ran into a rather preppy young architect who told me that his firm was going to convert the factory into lofts. This made me a little sad because my factory was going to change from a piece of history somewhat forgotten in time to a trendy living space. But it also made me that much gladder to have captured my factory when I did.
