roald dahl museum & story centre
the roald dahl museum & story centre opened on 11 june in the buckinghamshire town where dahl lived. the museum has all kinds of displays and a large archive of manuscripts, photographs, letters and more. there are also temporary exhibitions; currently there are photographs taken by dahl while he was flying with the raf during world war 2. additionally there are activities you can attend, from storytelling to a class on how to make chocolate truffles to a class on how to create your very own oompa-loompa. [no, i’m not joking.]
dahl created the most amazing worlds and adventures in his novels. i’ve read all of his books more than once; they’re so creative and funny. i enjoy them today as much as i did as growing up, maybe even more so. hopefully next time i go to the uk, i can visit this museum. if you happen to go, send me a postcard!
a couple fun facts:
roald dahl was 6’ 5.5” tall.
he spoke english, norwegian and swahili.
a little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
