fuzzy puppy
elwood couldn’t be a show dog because he is too soft. sounds funny, but it’s true. his individual hairs are actually a little longer than standard basset hair, but i certainly don’t mind because he’s so soft and cuddly. i just brushed him outside, and it’s always funny how much hair comes off of him; it usually looks like there’s a family of hamsters on the ground when i’m done.
if i were a bird, i would definitely use elwood hair to make my nest.
i use a grooming mitt to brush my basset hounds. i find it’s easier to use and works better than a brush or comb, plus the dogs like it because they get a doggie massage while being groomed. i’m not sure how it would do for a long-haired dog, but it works great for short-haired dogs, like bassets. i have a purebred pet grooming mitt, but doctors foster & smith have some as well. the 1 i have is nice because the little nubs are long enough that they brush through the fur and pull off any excess hairs, as opposed to just wiping away loose hairs that are laying on top of the fur.
