veruca salt
a couple of random things i realised about veruca salt:
in the new version of the film, she lives in buckinghamshire, which is where roald dahl lived.
in the old version of the film, roy kinnear played veruca’s father. kinnear is also in help!, playing the bumbling assistant scientist. the original title of help! was eight arms to hold you. there is a band called veruca salt who had a hit song a decade ago, and they have an album called eight arms to hold you. see the meandering connection?
