last.fm
eric brought my attention to last.fm, a website that tracks the songs you listen to on your computer with a plug-in for your mp3 player. after gathering the list of songs, last.fm displays it on your music profile. the site then uses the profile to make recommendations, match you up with people who are into similar music, and generate custom radio stations geared towards your musical tastes. last.fm is basically an expanded version of the “playcount” column in itunes.
