I give this as Christmas gifts a lot, and have a lot of requests for it. Especially good warm with butter. It is an old family recipe

Ingredients

3/4 cup dry potato flakes
1 cup boiling water
1 cup warm milk
3 tablespoons butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
4 1/2 cups bread flour (more as needed) or regular flour
1 pk dry yeast
3 tablespoons white sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter melted, or more as needed

Directions

  1. Place water, milk, softened butter, and eggs in bottom of bread machine.

  2. Place sugar and flour on top.

  3. Make a well in the flour and add yeast.

  4. When cycle is finished, remove and shape into 3 loaves. Place each in a slightly greased 8 inch pie pan and cover. Let rise until doubled in size.

  5. In small bowl, combine 3 tablespoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.

  6. Brush risen loaves with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture.

  7. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
